Emotional Restraint

I contend that America requires greater emotional restraint. It is difficult to address complex issues effectively when we remain in a persistent state of heightened emotion, leaving our actions governed primarily by feelings. While emotion can serve as an initial motivator for action, it should not dominate the decision-making process throughout, as this often results in irrational choices, misguided opinions, flawed decisions, and, in some cases, violence. We must quickly restrain our emotions and replace them with objective reasoning and logic. We must humble our nerves so we can sit at the table together and discuss our grievances to find just resolutions with clarity and wisdom.
